Update: Two weeks left to buy Expo Icrontic tickets

This year’s Expo Icrontic (EPIC 2010) is shaping up to be the best and biggest yet, with tons of new attendees, a great gaming lineup, sweet swag and prizes, and awesome events like the Tastes of Detroit Food Tour, Magic the Gathering tournament, boardgame tournaments, a golf outing, and more.

Sales end June 10th, and tickets are limited, so if you’ve been lazy or indecisive, time is running out!

This year’s sponsors include OCZ Technology, EA Games, Gigabyte USA, Shuttle, SteelSeries, and Paradox Games, with more to be announced. Expect great prizes and other cool stuff from these fantastic companies.

Here are some pictures of past events, from 2004-2009 to give you an idea of the insanity, camaraderie, and fun that goes on. You definitely don’t want to miss Icrontic’s biggest event of the year!

QCH You miss this event, you miss a lot. Each year is different and each is the best in its own way. DO NOT MISS THIS.
  2. Cyclonite
Cyclonite Gonna miss everyone this year. :(

pigflipper If someone wants to give me a ride or buy me a plane ticket, I will go. But that is the only way that I can.
  5. QuadyTheTurnip
QuadyTheTurnip I'm going to miss it. I really don't have the money. This is Quady's sad face: :(
  6. rolleggroll
rolleggroll I too am going to miss meeting up with everyone at expo this year. Maybe someone else will be a new token guy / drunken mess / etc.

To everyone else on the fence, if you can go...GO. DOITNAO.

Also, if I sign up do I still get a badge and shirt?
  7. Cliff_Forster
Cliff_Forster I can't hang with the cool kids this year. :*(

Perhaps I'll talk to Preacher and chuck some Berger Cookies and a case of Clipper City Gold Ale into his wagon for everybody.

I wanna, but the family vacation in July has my remaining time.
  8. Bandrik
Bandrik I'm totally going, come hell or high water. Hopefully neither will happen, but if so we'll enjoy ICHQ's new swimming lake.

As everyone else said, if you can possibly make even a few days of this event, it's totally worth it. There's something for everyone, even if you aren't much of a PC gamer (wutreally?) Some of my best memories are of the Food Tour, the Duct Tape Challenge, and general shenanigans with Really Cool Peopleâ„¢.
  9. Thrax
Thrax I absolutely do solemnly swear that you will not have more fun all year. Period*.

    * Unless you win the powerball and take home $110 million.

Winning the powerball is the only way I can make it, so here's to hoping

primesuspect Eggy, if you buy the hotel rate ticket, you'll get a badge and a shirt for sure.
  12. NLichtman
NLichtman I will be home too late for this, gentleman. I am sorry. Next year...
  13. TiberiusLazarus
TiberiusLazarus Oh ya, I guess I'll show up.
  14. yagga
yagga I like the "If you have a discount code, enter it here:" spot in the checkout page. Me is going to try to find a working code.

Not to be a cheapass or anything...

I might have to give this little lan a try sometime. New occupation prohibits me from going this year.

    shwaip You could try ( . Y . ).
  17. Kwitko

    Cliff,
you AND/or your cookies and beer are welcome to carpool with us. Me and my sidekick are IN.
  23. QuadWhore
QuadWhore Its 79.8 miles away. Too far for a man with no car. Sorry guys.
  24. primesuspect
primesuspect Dude, 80 miles is nothing. I will pick you up personally.

That's not really a good reason. Got a better one? :D

I'm a student, got stuff to do during the summer. Emphasis on student, as I've got parents staring me down. All the time.
  26. Thrax
Thrax I will drive my ass out to your house and pick you up if Brian can't.

You can afford four days over the summer. It's summer.
  27. Ryder
Ryder 80 miles in what direction? I come from the West, others come from the Northwest. Probably drive right by you.
  28. Winfrey
Winfrey I'm in a similar situation as Quadwhore yet I am willing to travel almost ten times as far.

Also you should get Thrax or Brian to pick you up, unless you want to get rocketed to Warren in the Ryder mobile ;)

:grumble: Which is less of a rocket than the old Ryder mobile.
  30. QuadWhore
QuadWhore Well guys, I'm only a teenager. Not to be the "my mommy says I can't" guy, but I'd think my parents would disapprove of me getting rides to Michigan with people she's never met before. Even though its only 80 miles.

Sucks to be in high school, sometimes.
  31. Thrax
Thrax We'll stop by and visit with mom to prove that we're upstanding gentlemen!

Seriously. We'll talk to her on the phone and otherwise do whatever it takes to convince her. I came to my first Icrontic Expo at 16!

I doubt your parents stare as heavily as my parents did, and I made it while being a student two summers in a row!

I could probably come with Rob if that would make your Mom feel better. (I'm a certified teacher, if that helps?) But 15 is kind of young to be attending an event far away by yourself, I understand why your parents are being cautious. If you're going to attend a random event with people from the internet, though, there's no safer one you could come to.

Gaming, socializing, gaming, sleeping, gaming, eating, gaming, socializing, gaming, socializing, fun, random wackiness, gaming, and maybe sleep for an hour or two.

Perhaps your folks will let you hang out for one day? Leave early AM, come back at night.

You also won't be the only 15 year old there. Rexxar is 15 as well and this will be his second EPIC. Of course, he has to deal with me as his parental supervision.

No one expects the Spanish Inquisition!
  41. primesuspect
primesuspect My kids are both there - they are 11 and 12.
  42. shwaip
shwaip Laura and I will (probably) be driving from seattle, but we'll be doing it more for a vacation (so it'll take us several days). If someone wants a pickup on the last day (Cedar Rapids-ish -> Detroit), we may have space for a passenger.
  43. primesuspect
    primesuspect TWO weeks left.

You don't want to miss this event! The sponsor list is growing almost daily, and we've got tons of great stuff lined up.
  44. SirCandle
SirCandle Ahhhh. I'm going to request some time off of work. I hope they can get back to me by the 10th.
  45. primesuspect
primesuspect THREE DAYS LEFT to buy tickets. Seriously, this is zero hour. If you don't buy a ticket you are:

    not eligible for door prizes
    not getting a badge
    not getting a t-shirt
not getting tent space for your computer
    not eligible to enter events

Get in! Meet your friends! Have a riot! You do NOT want to miss this event!
  46. pragtastic
pragtastic Is there a count on number of tickets still available?
  47. primesuspect
    primesuspect Nine tickets left.

    Confirmed but lazy:

    UPSLynx
    Wags
    Magic

    that leaves 6
  48. UPSLynx
    UPSLynx Fashionably late. Officially in.
